    Windows won't boot in AHCI mode.


    So I'm currently using a WhackBook (aka Hackintosh laptop). In order for macOS to boot, you need to have the SATA mode set to AHCI. For whatever reason, Windows will not boot in AHCI mode. It sends me to advance startup options, and selecting "Start Windows normally" there will take be back to advanced startup options. Is there any way to fix this?

    My current "setup" is not ideal. If I want to boot into macOS or Windows, I have to go into the BIOS first and make sure that the correct SATA mode is set.

    Here are my specs, if it helps:


    • Core i7-7700HQ


    • 16 GB RAM


    • GTX 1050Ti and Intel UHD 630


    • 256 GB SSD (Windows is installed here)


    • 2 TB HDD partitioned in half, with 1 TB having macOS Mojave and the other half serving as game storage for Windows Windows won't boot in AHCI mode. :)

    SATA optical drive becomes useless in AHCI mode?

    I suggest after enabling AHCI, booting with the main drive ONLY, letting windows install the drives, reboot, plug in the other drives.

    RAID vs AHCI mode

    I had the same problem, back when I was running with single disks.
    On my Win7 64 bit I had to disable AHCI when installing...afterwards I then could enable AHCI mode again and the OS was running fine...I don´t know what the course is....

    A little note: RAID0 is faster than AHCI when running - BUT...the boot-up time on a RAID
    system is much slower due to the RAID controllers initializing of the disks/arrays.
