    Windows won’t complete load for can’t find desktop folder


    Hi, first post. My computer blue screened ( hasn’t in last 3 yrs so a reliable sort). On restart it says “location unavailable C:windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop”, and then just keeps loopy error message and loads no more. if I goto that location there is indeed no file, have tried creating one but then it says it “can’t access” the folder. Have tried copying the desktop folder my user directory and changing all the permission settings but can’t get it to read it. I can get into task manager, have tried restore, virus scan and repair from here but with no fix. I’m reluctant to let it do a reinstall for my data is backed up but I have program setting that are going to be an issue to replace at this time. Thanks in advance for any assistance or thoughts. Ps just paid $140 for an on-site tech to look at it, he said drive tests ok but recommends due to its age I just replace hdd and reload win10, not the exact help I want at this stage *Sad Brian

    Folder won"t go away


    I have a no longer used folder than I cannot delete. I have tried various third party apps to no avain. Any ideas how I can send this folder to "Never Never Land"

    Macrium is used frequently in this forum. There are experts in using it to recover drives. It's unclear as to why you are struggling to use it. I had not used it and just tried it for the first time and it went smoothly. Maybe these images might help?
