Windows 10: Windows work-around when upgrading RAM

I upgraded from 4 GB to 8 GB RAM. Same speed, etc. First day, everything worked fine. When I shut down at the end of the day, the screen blitzed into tiny horizontal lines. Next day Windows kept crashing- every conceivable blue screen. I tried rebooting in safe mode, but it would crash on every reboot. Is there a setting in Windows that I need to change for it to accept and reconfigure for the updated RAM? All of the tests in the Settings mode outside of Windows came back fine.

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

Video card or RAM need upgrading?

Memtest: no errors after 10 hrs.
I'm going to perform the Primetest, later on. Get back to you on that.
I'm going to take it step by step, guys. I need to find the problem with this current computer. I might have to upgrade some components, so that it is still runnable. As for the new one, yes....i will build on it later. I need to find something decent 'gaming experience', all suggestions appreciated. THanks.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
