Windows 10: windows10 install fail with message 0x8007042B-02000D the instllation failed in the SAFE_OS...

I am trying to install windows10 purchased on line today iam on expired windowindows10 will not install i get message 0x8007042B-02000D the instllation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE DATA operation' on each attempt. I have tried a clean boot this did not solve the problem. Please can someone help.................

If a lot of this is over your head and you are familiar with uninstalling and re-installing programs, I would just use 'Update now' from here -

Run the downloaded Upgrade Assistant. When offered the choice of 'What to keep', deselect apps and programs and preferably, but up to you, personal files (obviously backup, if you choose not to keep).
I have seen your situation on a couple devices that I've worked on. Rather than use up hours trying to figure out the issue, letting Windows install itself and compatible drivers while Keeping Nothing or only keeping your files has never failed on me and takes 1-2 hrs to finish. Yes, you have to add in the time to reinstall programs but I think this approach is less frustrating and ultimately will save time. Good Luck.

Okay... after trying mrgeek's suggestion it is time to upgrade your backup software.

You can pick your own imaging tool however I recommend Macrium Reflect. Free and widely used on forum. There are others which are also used and recommended on forum.

Your first reaction will be this is over my head. It isn't. The tutorial is long for completeness. It basically works using defaults. Creating the Rescue Boot media is essential including the testing.

Even with the above unfortunately we haven't address your reason for raising the thread.

Installation of Windows10 failed in SAFE_OS phase with error in BOOT

I tried to install Windows 10 on my Samsung RX511 laptop but the installation failed towards the end of the installation procedure with the message:

0xC1900101 - 0x20017

The installation failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error in the BOOT operation.

Has anyone experienced this failure on a Samsung RX511 laptop and found a fix for this problem?
