Windows 10: Windows10 update failing since 10/4/2018

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903

Failed to install on ‎9/‎18/‎2019 - 0xc1900101

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903

Failed to install on ‎8/‎28/‎2019 - 0x800704c7

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809 amd64 2019-04 (12)

Last failed install attempt on ‎5/‎20/‎2019 - 0xc19001e1

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809 (2)

Last failed install attempt on ‎10/‎4/‎2018 - 0xc19001e1

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803

Successfully installed on ‎6/‎7/‎2018


I know some knowlegable people will ask me to do something to fix it, but I don't quite get why Microsoft itself looks in their automatic update and sort all this out.


For example, someone said that c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\Config\applicationHost.config is empty in theirs and so is mine.

But it seems that I have to do a few things to fix it. Like starting Windows Application Process Service. I don't know how to do that.


The question is : Do I need all these update? My computer works well so far.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Jan 2018 update failed to install

Hello Michelle,

I downloaded KB4056892 from the Catalog and successfully installed it. The only anomaly that I now observe is, on my "Update History List"; there are now two KB4056892
entries.

The first listed entry reads:

Security Update for Windows (KB4056892)

Successfully installed on 1/19/2018

The second listed entry reads:

2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version1709 for x64 based Systems (KB4056892)

Failed to install on 1/4/2018 - 0x80070643

NOTE: The ID numbers for the two updates are identical, however, the titles of the Updates vary significantly. The Update with the successfully installation status is the one that I manually downloaded and installed, I suppose that I should
simply ignore the "Failed To Install" entry. I'm confused.

 

Jan 2018 update failed to install

On the "Update History" list for this PC, the status shown, for the 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10, Version 1709, for x64-based Systems (KB4056892) is "Failed to install”. The error code for the failure is: 0x80070643

The Windows 10 OS Version installed on this PC is 1709 and the Build is16299.192. When I run a manual update check, the results indicate that my PC is current, however, the “failed to Install” notice in the Update History List is still there.
