  1. winload.efi error during creator's update, error 0xc0000225

Hello all,I have upgraded from windows 10 home to Windows 10 education using key from Microsoft imagine a few months ago. When I try to apply creator's update using Windows 10 upgrade assistant, I get the following error at the boot:
winload.efi error during creator's update, error 0xc0000225 [IMG]

If I select F8 or Enter, nothing happens. Pressing esc takes me to Bios. And after restarting, it boots normally without applying creator's update.

In update history, it shows that following update is applied "Windows 10 Creators Update Privacy Settings for x64-based Systems (KB4013214)"

I have my laptop in UEFI, AHCI(changed from RAID at the time of dual boot with Ubuntu).

How can I solve this issue?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Windows 10 failing to upgrade to latest version from 10586.962

I'm having a problem upgrading from OS Build 10586.916 to the 1703 Creators build

    Using Windows Update the update fails with the following error;

"0xc1900107 - 0x20017 the installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation"

Using the download Windows 10 upgrade tool I'm able to progress further (I think) but am met with the following [screen](http://i.imgur.com/sknTRp8.jpg) after the update process with the error code 0xc0000225 with a missing or error containing winload.efi
    file.

I then tried the media creation tool to make a USB bootable drive to repair windows, but was met with another error simply stating that it could not repair any errors.

  4. winload.efi error during creator's update, error 0xc0000225

I would recommend you recreate your media using the Media Creator Tool with an 8GB USB key.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/soft...load/windows10

Before running "Setup" from the key please enter your BIOS and ensure secure boot is disable while you do the update.

  6. I'm assuming from what I'm reading is you can boot to an operational Windows although using the Anniversary version, 1607.

If you want upgrade to Creators Update, which I think you are trying to do, if you create the USB and then from File Explorer you navigate to the key and run setup it will do an in place Upgrade. If you boot from key it will allow you to do a clean install which is not what you want to do.

Please ensure you backup data. You shouldn't need, better to have then wish you had. Please see this tutorial.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

    winload.efi error during creator's update, error 0xc0000225

What is not available until 1 May? The current Media Creation Tool downloaded directly from Microsoft creates a USB flash drive with Windows 10 Pro, Home, Single Language, and Education Editions all in one.

  9. You mean the creator's update for Windows 10 education will show up in (settings->update and security) on May 1st?
Can you give the link where it says that?

I have also read here that windows sets a flag if an update is not successful and this flag prevents failed updates from showing up in (settings->update and security).

  12. I was told in the Microsoft forums that I will need to purchase a key to get creator's update on Windows 10 Education. This is just ridiculous now.

    winload.efi error during creator's update, error 0xc0000225

Click the button that says Download Tool Now. Run the MediaCreationTool.exe that it downloads. You will get an ISO file with 4 different versions of Windows 10 included: Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Home Single Language Edition, and Windows 10 Education:

    Code: D:\sources>dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:install.esd Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.14393.0 Details for image : install.esd Index : 1 Name : Windows 10 Pro Description : Windows 10 Pro Size : 14,747,431,455 bytes Index : 2 Name : Windows 10 Home Description : Windows 10 Home Size : 14,586,404,734 bytes Index : 3 Name : Windows 10 Home Single Language Description : Windows 10 Home Single Language Size : 14,613,514,813 bytes Index : 4 Name : Windows 10 Education Description : Windows 10 Education Size : 13,962,206,875 bytes The operation completed successfully. D:\sources>[/quote]
What does the Activation Screen show under Settings - Updates and Security?
Open a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) and run:
    slmgr /dlv

What are the results of that command?

  14. Interesting. How did you originally get your Education key? I saw in first post you upgraded to W10 Home and then to Education but I didn't understand how?

  15. Hello, windows 10 home is the original OS that came with the laptop. Win 10 education upgrade is done using a key from Microsoft Imagine. Microsoft Imagine account is provided in our university where we can download Microsoft softwares for free. Here is microsoft imagine: Lamar University - Computer Science - Microsoft Imagine Premium | Academic Software Discounts
I have downloaded the education key before April, i.e before the release of creator's update. I am not allowed to get anymore keys for this particular updated product in Microsoft Imagine due to their policy.

    cmd command:

    *snip*
    Activation screen:

    *snip*

You did not say what to do with the ISO file. I don't want to reinstall OS to be clear. Does the ISO contain creator's update?

This was the response in the microsoft forums here :
