Windows 10: Wired Xbox 360 Controller - Code 10 Error

I am currently having a problem with my Xbox 360 controller. After using it for about 3 years now, all of the sudden I turned on my computer today and the controller stopped working. When I went into the device manager I saw that the controller was recognized did not work.


The device status leaves me with this:





Inside the Events tab, it claims that there is an error with "xusb22":


When the controller is first plugged in, the guide button holds a flash for a second and then turns off. The controller works perfectly fine when plugged into other computers.

Xbox One controller being recognized as a 360 Controller

There are several reasons why your Xbox One controller is detected as an Xbox 360 controller by your PC. It is possible that the controller is not updated or if you previously used an Xbox 360 controller on the PC, it is still detecting its drivers instead
of the Xbox One controller drivers. To properly isolate your concern, please clarify the following information:

• Have you used an Xbox 360 controller on the same computer before?
• Does the error message occur on all of the games that you play?
• Have you tried to update the controller?
• Are you using an Xbox One Elite controller?
