Windows 10: Wireless adapter drivers will not install

Currently using an Asus PCE-AC68 Wireless adapter which works fine. Just upgraded to PCE-AC88 which I installed into the same PCI-e socket I had the AC68 in. Computer does not recognize the AC88 in Device Manager and the driver install .exe will not execute so no install wizard available. Removed the AC88 and plugged the AC68 back in - immediate wireless connection again. I have downloaded the latest Asus driver package plus two older versions but none of them will execute. Win10x64 Home is totally up to date as of this morning. I have attempted the driver install in both Safe Mode and Clean Boot mode without success. I have run sfc /scannow which repaired a file and DSIM which was clean but these did not solve the problem. So now I am stuck. Any suggestions please?

Wireless Adapter not working

Method 1:

Step 1: Update network adapter driver from the device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X keys on the keyboard and click on
  Device Manager from the options.
• Expand the Network adapters from the options.
• Right click on the wireless network card and select Update option.
• Restart the computer and check if the changes are effective.

Step 2: If the issue persist, I suggest you to uninstall the network adapter driver from the device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X keys on the keyboard and click on
  Device Manager from the options.
• Expand the Network adapters from the options.
• Right click on the wireless network card and select Uninstall.
• Restart the computer for automatic installation of network adapters and check if the changes are effective.

Wireless adapter installation.

Hey. I just wanna make this short and sweet. All I wanna know is why I can't install/update wireless adapter drivers on Vista 64 bit but it works on 32 bit? On my wireless adapter box, it doesn't say Vista compatible (only XP and 2000) but if 32 bit Vista works, 64 bit should. Because when I do a fresh install of Vista for an example, all I do is update the driver in device manager then I'm on the net but with 64 bit it don't work. And how can I find out the manufacturer of my wireless adapter? Or brand etc. It came in a BT box, a small one. Just says Wireless USB adapter. I dunno if BT has a driver section.

 

Unable to install Linksys wireless adapter(dual band)

1) Are you trying to install the drivers for Linksys wireless adapter drivers?

2) Are you trying to install the drivers from the disk or website?

3) Have you tried downloading the driver file and then installing it?

4) Have you tried to reset the adapter?

If you are trying to install the driver using set up file, then I suggest you to install it in compatibility mode and check.

Refer the steps to install a driver in compatibility mode:

• 
  Right click on the setup file of the driver and select
  Properties
  
• 
  Select Compatibility Tab
  
• 
  Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
  
• 
  Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.
