  1. Wireless Display Adapter - Corporate Environment - Always prompt for PIN to connect

I know this question has been asked before and I know that "by-design" Windows does not prompt for the PIN number of a WDA if it has successfully connected once, but...

I am an AV integrator and the WDA is being using quite widely in corporate installations where guests connected via the WDA to present content on a meeting room display. Once that used has connected they then have the ability to re-connect to that display without being prompted for a PIN again.

The process should be that if the PAIR WITH PIN CODE is set to ON, then it should prompt ALWAYS.

Otherwise add functionality that will make provide this capability. This functionality is built-into the Apple TV and most other corporate standard wireless presentation devices.

Windows should not be able to circumvent a security function that is obviously designed to stop users randomly connecting to displays and presenting content, this is essential in corporate environments.

Will MS fix this design flaw?

    :)

Windows Wireless Display Adapter-not connecting anymore

    Hello Phillip,

Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue? I suggest that you follow the steps outlined in this support article:
    Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

Since updating drivers did not work, in addition, you can try to reset the Wireless Adapter.

    1. On the adapter, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
    2. When the message " Ready to connect "shows, open the
      Action Center.
    3. Select Connect, and in the list of displays, select
      Microsoft
      Wireless Display Adapter.

Please respond to this thread to let me know how the issue progresses. Similarly, if you have more questions, please inform me by replying to this post.

Issue with connecting Dual monitor with Wireless Display Adapter

    Hi Penny Wells,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I can understand the situation must be difficult for you when things do not work as they should. However, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

    1. What is the make and model of the computer?
    2. What is the model of the TV?

This issue can occur if there is pending firmware update or the issue with the drivers. I would suggest you to follow the below steps and let us know about the results:

Method 1: Fix connections to wireless displays or docks.

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the Microsoft article on
Fix connections to wireless displays or docks.

Method 2: Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

If method 1 doesn’t fix the issue, I would suggest you to follow all the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the Microsoft article on
    Troubleshooting Wireless
    Display Adapters
refer the steps ‘Having trouble connecting your device to the adapter?’

Note: The above article contains steps regarding Firmware update.
Modifying BIOS settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS
settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter Win 10 PIN Required but not set up with PIN

    Hi Linda,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

I suggest you follow the steps below and check if it helps

To prevent others from pairing with or using your adapter without your permission, you can change the pairing mode to “Requires a PIN code to pair.” With this setting turned on, anyone trying to connect to your adapter will
have to be able to see your HDTV, monitor, or projector to get the pairing code. Here’s how to enable this setting:

Step 1: Tap or click Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
    to open the app

Step 2:Under Pairing mode, tap or click
    Requires PIN code to pair

Windows remembers connected devices, so the adapter won’t prompt you to enter a PIN if you connect to it using the same Surface.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help
