Wireless network drops intermittently, needs reset to reconnect

    This worked for me:

Hold the Windows Key and Press R. In the run dialog, type*regedit*and click OK. Navigate to the following path in Registry Editor,
    HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WcmSvc\
See if the*GroupPolicy subkey exists, if not with WcmSvc highlighted, right click on WcmSvc and Choose New -> Key and name it*GroupPolicy, then click*GroupPolicy*and then in the right pane, (right-click) and choose New -> DWORD (32-bit) and create value, name it as*fMinimizeConnections*and Click OK. Disconnect from your network. Now, reboot and test. Post back with the results.

  3. Thanks.

Did you try Elizabeth's suggestion or the channel change?

Their FAQ, Asus's, is down at the moment.

Did you try their Wireless driver for Win 8.1, version 6.30.223.249 ?

Thanks Elizabeth; I just changed it. I'll monitor my WiFi and keep you posted.

  5. Yes, I've changed both. I've changed the EMERITUS channel's value to 8, and the group policy for multiple internet/domain connections to '0'. I'll keep you both posted on the results.
    Thanks!

  6. @Ken & @Elizabeth, I was just looking at the Event Viewer to see if there was anything there, and this is what I saw:

I see numerous similar events, spread out randomly every day.

Could these events be an indicator to the problem?

  8. Wireless network drops intermittently, needs reset to reconnect

Sorry, I should have mentioned it - yes I had turned it off, but it didn't change the behavior, so I turned it on again.
Having said that, since this morning, after I set the registry key *and* changed the channel to 8 for the 5G connection, the laptop has not dropped the wifi - yet.

  10. Bad news - the issue remains. It just happened, and the event viewer *did not* register that previous IPv6 event.

(The event viewer did not register the event "Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 2605:6000:ec8c:9000::2 on the Network Card with network address 0x40E230858D41." corresponding to the time that the Win10 laptop lost its connection).

The channel change didn't fix it.
Turning off IPv6 didn't fix it.
The register key didn't fix it.

I'm going to try other options too, such as sitting at a Starbucks all day, to see if the problem is with my WiFi router.

    Any other suggestions are welcome.

  12. No, 'cos its a Spectrum (Time Warner) router that'd get messed up.

No; I'll try and get me one of them.

  14. After you try page file could you also re-install the old driver and test. Thanks.

  15. Thanks Christoph34, but that didn't change the behavior. I'm going to try to set the driver to an old one, like @Ken suggested.
