Windows 10: WLM issue happens just today.

Looks like repairing WE 2012 has fixed the problem.

I have been using WLM since Win 7 days. That's about 6-7 years ago.
Today, I keep getting an error message about WLM............




I closed WLM, restarted it, and it works without issue. BUT, every now and then, the above error message reappears.

Any WLM users having this problem ?

Application pop up on start up

Well, in the ongoing saga of mysterious software behavior, today when I booted up, Windows Live Mail did NOT open automatically. I did notice that the sequence of what applications opened on boot up seemed to be a little different than usual. Random differences
in load times or application interactions or? may cause sequencing or timing to vary from boot to boot? So maybe the different sequencing or timing caused Windows to skip over WLM?

The only thing I could think of, that I had changed since this problem started, was my change to the WLM settings so that WLM does not automatically try to send or receive mail when opened. Just for fun, I tried changing the WLM setting back to my previous
normal - auto send/receive when opened. Then rebooted. Then WLM opened automatically. So I changed the WLM setting back to manual send/receive when opened. Rebooted again. WLM did NOT open automatically again.

It's hard to see why this WLM setting would have any connection to Windows starting the application automatically on boot up, so I'm not yet convinced we know what's going on. I'll see what happens each time I boot up over the next several days.

windows live messenger/hotmail gone from ovi store!!!

WLM for 5800 is not available any more. Weird!



I formatted my 5800 today since after updating to 31.0.101 it became too unstable to use, then I see no WLM in Ovi Store.

Apparently, the issue mentioned above is isolated.
My other computers running the same Win 10 version and same WLM 2012 are not affected.
I am now running a system file check, but I don't think that is the remedy.

I'll clear the browser cache next.

 

Update............

1. Ran sfc
Result : found corrupt files but unable to repair some of them.
2. Ran dism....restorehealth
Result : error... source files could not be found.
Since I do not have the esd file or the wim file, I cannot continue with the dism commands.
3. Browser (IE11) cache cleared > restart WLM.
Result : same error message persists.
4. Ran a WE 2012 repair option > restart WLM.
Result : awaiting .......
