  2. Windows 10 last update

Cannot update to 1709 version my Windows. Trying to download Microsoft Windows 10 Fall Creators Update ISO 1709 but not sure what
version Windows 10 I have now.

I was sure that my system was x86 based PC, 32-bit but now my system About shows 32-bit, x64 based PC. Download history shows that all my previous successful updated were done for x86 based PC.

My chip is intel core i5-2500 cpu @ 3.30ghz.

Can 32-bit operating system be x64 based PC?

Is it possible that my previously x86 based PC was changed to x64 based PC?

    Windows Updates

I have Windows 10 Home 32bit O.S. x64-based processor 1709. It wants to install Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x86-based Systems (KB4074588)

It could be because of some driver or other HW but if processor is 64bit (and it is), 64bit OS should run on it without problems.

You will need to do a clean install of the OS in order to move from 32-bit Windows to 64-Bit Windows. You need to backup your data, install the OS, re-install all of your programs then restore your backed up data.

64bit OS would use a bit more RAM than 32bit anyway but you would also need to do clean install of Windows, can't just upgrade. It would be best to delete all partitions first and start with clean disk.

You need to perform a complete fresh install

To do this you will need to obtain 64 Bit install media of the version you have a licence for on a suitable media DVD or preferably USB stick.

The install media may be available from Acer, that will include a driver set, and possibly bloatware that you may never use or from Microsoft which will be a windows only install and you would need to get drivers in addition to the Install media, most of the Acer hardware should have drivers either in the standard Installer or at Windows update and would be installed automatically but you may need to locate and download drivers for any special options, (keyboard special keys, fingerprint reader etc).

You will also need to install all your programs so you will need their installers available as well

Also before you start make sure you have backups of all your personal data, Documents, Photos, Internet bookmarks, network passwords etc

The official tool download page is here ...

    Download Windows 10

Use the second option on your current system to create the install media for the fresh install

That "bypasser" doesn't work, don't even bother with it. Only real fix for 4GB or more is 64bit OS.
