Windows 10: Work account on windows 11 setup

Hi,was wondering wether, when singing in with my Microsoft work account on windows 11 pro setup, it adds additional cost or anything to the license, as my user now says AzureAd\MyUsername.Thanks in advance!JF

I followed your suggested steps but the same thing still happens when I complete the out of the box experience setup.

By the way, the only reason the device was even in the device list was because (as a troubleshooting step) I tried creating a local account and then connecting to my work account to verify that the windows install was working properly. So I'm not surprised I still got the same result

The Microsoft person responding doesn't understand your question.

Microsoft 365 work accounts are not Microsoft accounts, so they can't be added during the setup process.

I literally just had this issue with a laptop we bought with Windows 11 Home by accident. It won't let you setup a local account or join to work.

First try clicking the back arrow from that screen, if it lets you then you should be able to setup for work, if not follow below for a workaround I just used and it works.

1. You need to click Shift + F10 while on that screen,
   
2. Run the command ncpa.cpl, this will bring up your network adapters.
   
3. Disable you network adapter, and close that window.
   
4. Now click the back arrow from your sign-in screen, setup a local account, then go into Microsoft settings and connect work account.
