    I have an ASUS laptop and have kept Windows 10 updated About 2 weeks ago, Windows stopped working and I cannot access anything! Not safe mode, not BIOS, and cannot boot from USB. The laptop boots up, allows me to sign in, shows the desktop and at that point does nothing. I cannot access any Windows functions or apps and have to manually shut down each time. Shift+ Restart does not work, tapping esc (nor any other function key) on startup does not work.
    Does anyone know how to access BIOS in a situation such as this? I would like to change the boot up to be from the USB as it doesn't appear to be doing this. I read somewhere that I may have to contact ASUS for this work around.
    Also, how do I get the laptop to boot up from the USB if I can't access the BIOS?
    Thank goodness I have my older laptop which has turned out to be the trusty standby.

    access BIOS settings in Win 10

    I have an 8-year old computer running Win 10. I need to access the BIOS settings. It used to be the holding down the F2 key during startup would bring up the BIOS screen in Windows computers. But this no longer works. A web article listed a complicated
    series of steps leading to a reboot . . . but still no access to BIOS. Any suggestions?

    Please take another look at this earlier post
    Forget the battery for a minute.
    Do you think you can disconnect the cables from the HDD? Take another look and see what you think. On some motherboards I have worked on, if you disconnect a drive the BIOS will automatically search for a bootable disk on a drive. So if you remove the cables from the HDD you may be able to, for example, use a CD or USB Win10 prepared installation disk to gain access to UEFI via the Repair & Advanced Troubleshooting dialog. Work Around to get into BIOS and access USB :)
