Windows 10: Work or school account problem with One Drive.

Hi, I left University last year but my one drive account is still on my PC, how can i unlink my account when it doesn't exist?


I keep getting notifications about it and the One Drive symbol is in file explorer with a red cross on it.

Is there any way to get rid of these notifications?


Very annoying.


(PS I can't connect my btinternet email to outlook on my phone but it works fine on PC)

Problem with school or work account

Hi there!

I recently switched schools which means my old school account has been deactivated and can no longer be accessed. I can't sign in to this account anymore. Unfortunately, I have forgotten to sign out of this account on my laptop, which means I now get a daily
reminder that there's a "problem with school or work account". The notification is driving me a bit nuts.

However, when I tried to remove the account via Settings > Accounts > Email & App accounts, I am required to sign in to the account before I can remove it. Is there perhaps another way to remove the account that doesn't require me to sign in? Or am I just
going to have to live with the daily reminder?

Can't add a school account?

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I understand the inconvenience you are facing. I will certainly help you with this.

I suggest you to try the below given methods and check if it works:

Method 1:

This issue may arise due to some file corruption, I suggest you to try running DISM tool and check if it works. To do so, refer the following steps:

• Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.

• In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

• Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

Method 2:

I suggest you to try to create a new user account and check if you still face this issue in new user account. To create it perform the steps mentioned below.

• Press Windows key + X key and select
  Control Panel.
• Click on User accounts and Family Safety.
• Click on User Account and then click on Manage Accounts.
• Now click on Add a new user and follow the instructions.
• Sign out from the current User account and log-in using new User account and check if issue persist.
