Keyboard unresponsive after update to Windows 10 version 1073

    Hi,

One possible reason why your keyboard is slow and unresponsive after an update may be due to driver incompatibility. As an initial recommendation, we suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to resolve this issue. Kindly follow the steps
    below:

    • Type Troubleshooting in Cortana's search field and press
      Enter.
    • Click on View All in the top left corner.
    • Click on Hardware and Devices from the list and follow the prompts.

Let us know if you will need further assistance.

  3. Programs become unresponsive in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried both with different results.

    Step 1: Safe Mode:

This seemed to work and I could save a file in Word without the program becoming "Unresponsive".

    Step 2: Clean Boot:

This did not work and Word would become unresponsive when trying to save a file.

I did notice another odd thing. It seems that sometimes (not often) Word would work the first time I used it If I close it and reopened it the unresponsive behavior returned. I tried opening Word several time but it remained unresponsive.

This is very frustrating as I use Word daily.

  4. Workstation becomes unresponsive

VMware Workstation 16 Pro + Ubuntu 22.04.1 - VM unresponsive with high CPU introduced with Windows 10 September 2022 monthly update

Several users are reported to be seeing VM unresponsiveness with high CPU using VMware Workstation 16.2.x Pro + Ubuntu 22.04.1 introduced after the Windows 10 September 2022 monthly update.

VMWare Workstation as not seen any similar performance issues like this in well over 2 years (or longer) as reported in the above VMware community post and was successfully integrated with Windows, but some incompatibilities were introduced by Microsoft with the Windows 10 September 2022 monthly updates.

VMware Community Post (showing several users experiencing same issue): Re: VMWare Workstation 16 Pro + Ubuntu 22.04.1 - V... - VMware Technology Network VMTN

Running: Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2 (OS build 19044.2006)

Current troubleshooting reported 10/17/22 in above VMware community post:

    1. User uninstalled September KB5017308 and everything was fine.
    2. When user updated Windows in October and KB5018410 (part of the Microsoft October Patch Tuesday update, 2022-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems) was downloaded, it was worse than ever.
    3. When user uninstalled KB5018410, everything was fine again.
    4. When Windows reinstalled KB5018410, nothing works more than 5-10 min before VM freezes up due to 95%+ CPU.
Several watchdog: BUG: soft lockup = CPU#x stuck for 24 s! errors but not enough log information to report issue other than this symptom error (not root cause).
When actively using the VMware Workstation Linux RHEL 8 VM, the symptom manifests as the VM quickly goes from responsive to sluggish, to extremely sluggish, to unresponsive.

This is causing a lot of enterprise users to halt critical software development.

How do we go about solving this?
