  1. WpnUserService using UPNP?

My router shows the below uPNP portmap table:

    UPnP Portmap Table
    ActiveProtocolInt. PortExt. PortIP Address
    YesUDP5743457434192.168.1.251

I logged into 192.168.1.251, and netstat shows that UDP port 57434 is being used by process 3248

    netstat -anob findstr "57434"

    UDP 192.168.1.251:57434 *:* 3248

I then use process explorer which shows for process 3248:

    command line: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k NetSvcs -p

    Autostart Location: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\WpnUserService_7f0bc

Anyone else seeing this behavior? I just thought it odd. As there's multiple WpnUserService_* services, is there a way to know which one does what?

    :)

  2. WpnUserService

    Hi Filipe,

I'd like to know more about the challenge you're experiencing with using the push notifications. Kindly answer the following questions:

    • When did the issue start?
    • Are you getting any error messages?
    • How did reinstall Windows 10? Are you referring to resetting your PC or performing a clean installation?
    • Can you tell me all of the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far? This is to avoid repeats.
    • Have you installed the latest updates for Windows 10?
    • Can you tell me the current OS Build of your Window 10 system? Find this information by right-clicking the
Start button, select System > About and then scroll down to
      Windows specifications.

I want to make sure that the issue isn't caused by a corrupted user profile. This, I advise creating a new user accountand see if the same issue occurs on it. See this
    support article for the
steps on how to create a user account in Windows 10.

An installed program can also prevent the service from working. Let's perform a clean boot for further isolation of the issue. Clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This procedure will determine whether a background
program is interring with the Windows Push Notifications User Service (WpnUserService). Follow the steps under the section:
How to perform a clean boot from this
    article
. You can also watch our for more details.

    IMPORTANT: Go to the section:
Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting to boot the PC in normal startup after identifying the cause of the issue.

Should the issue remain, you can run the DISM command-line and the
SFC tool. These tools will scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. Make sure that you're signed in as the administrator to run the tool.

    1. Click the Start button and type
      Command Prompt.
    2. Right-click Command Prompt and choose
      Run as administrator.
    3. Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
      and then press Enter.
      • Note the space before each "/".
      • This step may take a few minutes to start and up to 30 minutes to run and complete.
    4. Enter sfc /scannow and then hit
      Enter.
      • Note the space between "sfc" and "/".
    5. Restart your PC.

If you have additional questions, or if the issue persists after the troubleshooting steps above, please let me know by replying to this thread. This way, I'll get notified and respond back to you as soon as I can.

  3. Teredo and UPnP on Windows 10

    Hi,

If you encounter issues wherein the Xbox app server connectivity is blocked even if your
Network address translation (NAT) type is open, this may be due to one of the following reasons:

    • The Windows Firewall is disabled.
    • A security software installed on your device has altered the Windows Firewall configuration.
    • A required service has been disabled or stopped.
We suggest enabling the Windows Firewall. Here are the steps:

    • Enter Windows Firewall in the search field on your toolbar (Cortana).
    • Select Windows Firewall from the search results.
    • On the left side of the window, select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
    • If Turn off Windows Firewall is selected for your network type (public, private, or domain), select
Turn on Windows Firewall, and then select OK.
    • Restart your device so that the changes can take effect.
UPnP is not a requirement for Teredo to work. However, we recommend that the
UPnP settings is on. The best team to get an in-depth explanation regarding this is your
    Internet service provider.

Keep us posted with the progress. We'd be glad to provide you additional assistance.

    WpnUserService using UPNP?

    UPnP stopped working?

Today when I tried to access my NAS disk it no longer works.

l always just activated network sharing and then my NAS showed up under network places.

Now there nothing. I'm running W10 CU, but I have two other computer on W10 CU and UPnP works fine.

Any suggestions as to why this could've fallen out? I had this one time where I wasn't fast enough to connect the power cord when the battery died, could that really mess up UPnP?
