Windows 10: WSL and Zscaler localhost proxy pac

Hello everyone I am trying to figure out how to get the WSL to work with the windows proxy settings? We are using a pac file, and I can not figure out how to configure the wsl to use it. We use the zscaler service. If you are not familiar it is a local proxyservice. it runs a pac file through localhost:9000/proxy.pac. Does anyone have a clue how to get WSL to play nice? I tried setting up an etc/environment file but you can not add a pac file there. This came about because apt-get is not working. I tried adding a apt.conf in /etc/apt but I could not figure out how to get it to use the pac eith

Force hotspot connections through localhost proxy.

Hello, I'm using an old windows laptop as a prototype for my project. In my project, students connect to my laptop's hotspot as a form of internet access. A localhost proxy is running on my windows laptop to block websites that students are not allowed to access. Despite already setting the proxy settings to "localhost" in "Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy > Manual proxy setup" The connections from the hotspot do not go through the proxy unless the students manually configures it on their end. Is there a way to force all hotspot connections through my localhost proxy without the need for students to manually configure the proxy on their end? Otherwise they will be able to secretly access whatever blocked site it is by "unconfiguring" the proxy settings at their end.

 

PAC file issue with IE 11.306.10586.0

Has anyone else noticed that there is an issue with pac files (ZSCALER) and version 11.306.10586.0? We have plenty of users on 11.0.10240.16841 and everything is working properly. Is there somewhere I can go on MS site to see bugs for this version?

Access localhost from another computer

Localhost, as the name suggests, points at the localhost. Use the hostname or IP from your computer on their PC's. ie something in the 192.168.x.x or 10.0.0.x range most likely.
