Windows 10: WSL2 only has access to half 16GB of RAM from Windows 32GB?

In WSL Ubuntu prompt:


$ free -m

total used free shared buff/cache available

In Windows Powershell:

I don't have any .wslconfig file created in my home directory or anywhere, so there shouldn't be a limit.


Can anyone think of something that I'm missing?

16gb ram vs 32gb ram Upgrade

8 GB's is what I would tell everybody to have as a minimum. For gamer or power user, I suggest going to 16GB of RAM. 32GB or more RAM I usually only see for people who are running lots of VM's, databases, or high end rendering type applications.

Hey. I had no idea that even if you use windows ten with no problems on... it still uses 2.8 - 3.1GB memory. I thought it would have used even less than that like a gb only when doing aboslutely nothing? So that means what i have... is normal then when not using any programs and just leaving it like that? Im shocked by that.


Okay but if i ever want to upgrade to 32GB ram, i could always sell the 16GB for a decent amount? Example it cost around 65 dollars for the 16GB ram. And a bit less than double for the 32GB. I probably could get half the amount for the 16GB ram that i sell later on? But then it probably be worth less since more machines has 16GB as the standard right?

I have 8gb and will be upgrading to 16gb ram. But then i saw how there is 32gb ram ... price is double that of 16gb ram.


Now is there any point of upgrading a laptop to 32gb ram? Or its a complete waste? I mean i know i could always upgrade to 32gb ram in the future but if i do that, i could always get something for my 16gb ram selling it on ebay right?


Someone mentioned since i have an old machine dell xps 15 9550 and 8gb ram... 16gb should be fine.
