Windows 10: Wtf is going on with my keyboard

I have a surface book 2, and was using it this morning until it froze up and I force restarted it. Now the keyboard mostly doesn't work, except for the trackpad and the function keys, like volume/brightness. Super weird, I can't even do ctrl alt delete or the windows key. Furthermore, at the lockscreen I can click with the mouse and bring up password entry, but none of the keys including the function keys will work, whether I hold down Fn or not. In device manager, my four HID keyboard devices appear with Code 19 errors (registry damaged/incomplete). Any ideas anyone? And no, sfc /scannow does nothing. Sorry Microsoft. Of course my natural conclusion is forcing it off has, somehow, screwed the registry entries, but updating the drivers won't solve that. I'm trying a reinstall now.

Edit: I tried reattaching after cleaning the connectors btw, nothing. Second edit: Oooooohhhhh wow, I had a surface logo flickering on my screen for a minute before it finally started up, after installing the surface book 2 driver package. Scared me. Anyway, still broken.

Bluetooth keyboard keeps going to sleep after 10 sec

I suggest you to run the Power troubleshooter and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the methods given below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Follow these steps to run Power troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Power.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

6. Check if issue persists.

Method 2: I suggest you to the below steps to change the settings for keyboard and check if it helps.

• Press “windows+X” and go to “control panel”.
• Click on “device and printers”.
• Right click on the “Bluetooth keyboard” and click on “properties”.
• Under “hardware tab” click on the keyboard device and go to “properties”.
• Then under “general” tab click on “change settings”.
• Click on “power management” tab and uncheck the box “allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
• Then click on “ok” and restart the computer, check if the issue persist or not.

I suggest you to check if the issue persists when you connect another keyboard to your system.

If the issue is with the keyboard, then suggest you to update the keyboard drivers by following the steps below.

  Press Windows key + X and select
  Device Manager from the list.

  Expand ‘Keyboard’ from the list.

  Right click on the driver and select ‘update driver software’ and follow the prompts.

To address your concern, we suggest that you try the following steps:

• Click Start and then click Settings
• Click on Ease of access
• Click Keyboard in the left pane
• Turn off Filter Keys in the right pane

Also, try pressing the Fn+ Num Lock keys to turn off the Number lock function.
