Windows 10: X99 USB Problems? What is it and how can i fix it? Code 43

So i am going to give a quick story of my problem.

When i first build this computer it had a Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard in with the 5820K CPU. All seems well till i started plugging in my USB drives. So i started getting a problem that it would just shut off my keyboard mouse and headset and just about all USB would go out till i rebooted. So i thought maybe i have a bad USB drive...Nope got a new WDC and had some problems as well so i then just replaced the motherboard with a GA-X99-Ultra Gaming thinking it was a bad motherboard. Replaced it and same problem is still there...now its getting bad to the point i can only have my Headset, Keyboard, Mouse if i plug in any "Drive" it just disables EVERYTHING! have to keep hard resting the computer.

I have tried just about everything i can think of other than replacing EVERYTHING in this computer.

I even just re-installed my windows installed all drivers from Gigabytes website and most updated bios and still having problems. I am to the point i just wanted to sell all my parts and get a new system...any help would be great!!!!!!

**Note i have done some more testing and even called Intel thinking maybe it was my CPU and notice that it does not happen in safe mode only in normal windows...

What os error code 80070057 and how can I fix it?

I have tried to download Windows 10 several different times and keep getting the same error code. Trouble shooting does not fix it.

 

Can you list ALL the USB connected devices on this PC?
Would also be good to know the types of drives you are plugging in - Thumb drive, USB powered external drive, Self powered external drive.
Are you plugging these drives into the PC Case sockets, or the motherboard sockets on the back?
What are you running for a power supply?
When you replaced the motherboard, did you change the model or is it the same brand and model?

 

As of right now only things plugged in are Logitech keyboard, Logitech Mouse, Kingston Headset. Also included are my hx1000i power supply that is connect to a USB port on the motherboard to use the Corsair link and also my Corsair CPU cooler as well.

I have an external WDC 4TB drive that I would have plugged in the back but now I am unable to.

Seem that when I plug in a USB thumb drive any make or model or my external it shuts off all 3.0 ports. The 3.1 port does not shut off.

Does not matter if I plug it in from the case or in the motherboard itself.

 

Yes. That is my first guess: That there could be a problem with the case USB ports, shorting out or under powered.
So the first thing I would try is to plug the "problem" drive(s) into the rear ports and see if the same thing happens.
The motherboard ports are powered differently, and use a different USB controller.

 

Yes I have already did that. Even disconnected that case USB from the motherboard to rule that out. When I plug them in the back they go out as well

 

What about the motherboard brand and model?

 

As noted in the first post it's the GA-x99-ultra gaming

It looks like you had an Asus X99 board the first time, and you replaced it with a Gigabyte.
The odds that both boards from different manufacturers have the same problem are slim and none.

So we can rule out the motherboard and the case.

The next thing I would test is all of my USB drives on another PC. We need to see if we can rule them out too.

 

Tested usb drivers on an Asus rog with an i7 2600k and everything works fine.

I know it's slim that why I contacted Intel thinking maybe it was the CPU but after being on the phone with them for well over an hour it seems to be a driver problem. It's Microsoft's driver it seems...and look like someone else posted about it as well..but this has been going for for well over a year and a half with 2 different motherboards...it's something with the x99 usb or 3.0

 

Check on Gigabyte's page for your board and see if they have their own USB driver.

 

I did...I just reinstalled my OS and tried doing a fresh copy install with all driver off the site and still same problem

 

It's hard to believe that Windows won't work with X99 boards. There are a lot of them. But that doesn't rule out your theory either.

We are running out of likely suspects. The only one left that I can think of is the power supply. That's hard to swallow since that is a good supply. Are you having any other issues with anything that runs on the 5v line that you can tell?
