Windows 10: X99 USB Problems? What is it and how can i fix it? Code 43

Nothing I can tell...and I did call Corsair this week and was about to replace it just for the hell of it but the more I think about it more I think it's not that...but idk...I can use the Corsair link to see what I am getting for power?!

 

My mind keeps going back to a short circuit. You plug in a drive and the whole hub goes down? Consistently? On two different motherboards?

I'm wandering back to the case again. What do you think about the idea of a bad plug going to the USB header? You might try disconnecting the plug from the case USB ports and then trying the rear motherboard ports again.
Also look for anything on the board. And double check the location of your standoffs.

 

Well when I have the Asus I did some digging around but not as much as this one. When I plug a drive in the hub gets a Code 43. If I then uninstall the driver and let the computer scan and pick up the driver all goes back to normal.

 

Sorry, I'm fresh out of ideas for now.

 

Yeah man I hear you me too that's why I posted hoping someone else has seen this...it has to be a driver problem with the x99 boards only thing I can think of

 

A few more things you can try....

• Check if a driver filter is applied to usb 3 controllers (i;ve only seen filters on a usb controller in one case but worth checking)
  • Right click the 3.x controller->Properties->Details tab. Use pull down menu and look to see if Class upper filter or Class lower filter is listed. Report what you find
• Google usb disable selective suspend. Follow instructions to turn if off on your controllers
• Run UsbTreeView . You can see how your devices connect back to and which controller. Disable one usb 3.x controller and test. Then enable it and disable other. See if you get same problem with each controller or maybe it's just local to one

 

I have already did the USB Selective suspend setting.

Checked for the upper and lower class and found nothing...

 

Since both mobos act similar, and both use the same X99 chipset, you could try downloading and running the Intel Driver Update Utility to see if you need any updated drivers or a chipset update:

I have tried the Intel tool and also a few others and I know when it comes to that it's kind of sketchy but nothing seems to help. I will give the x99 drivers a try but the more this problem pisses me off the more I just want to get rid of the x99 all together

Yeah I know and it sucks man...x99 has been out for how long and still having problems don't get how company's are able to get away with this

Your issues are not Windows related. I ran a test last night on my X99 (ASUS) using a Linux USB Live Drive and got my same errors. I got my board in March and I've been having issues with every single USB device at some stage. I've changed all the settings according to different advice and nothing stops the errors.

My errors are all USB related. Mouse lag, massive delays with a USB 3 SanDisk drive connected, Novation Launchkey dropping off and errors, Audient ID14 losing connectivity, dropouts inside Cubase, regular CPU spikes under Windows 7 and slight spikes under Windows 10. Because the lag occurs under Linux as well and USB Novation dropouts in Bitwig on Linux, it cannot be software related. I even had issues with booting Linux off a USB 2 stick yesterday. I was getting BIOS hangs and other issues. Verbatim USB 2gb drive - possibly USB 1 I think and plugged into a USB 2 port. I also get massive spikes inside Cubase, and that has an eLicenser attached, which might be having issues. Cubase gets 100% spikes without overclocking the CPU and using about 10% in ASIO, if that means anything to you. Basically I'm using no CPU but I get massive jumps. Linux was doing the same thing but less regularly at a standstill and using 1% of resources. Under Windows 7 I was getting CPU spikes only in certain threads. Usually threads 1, 5 and 9, which probably means something to a tech head. In Linux the spikes were mostly in thread 3 and another that I couldn't work out (they're all red).

I'm going to try to set up a list of errors somewhere and see how many issues relate to the X99. It doesn't seem to be just ASUS that have these issues, but every time somebody is using USB they get some kind of issues. If you only use a mouse and maybe Thunderbolt or PCIe for a soundcard it doesn't seem to affect those users as much.

I have a feeling that everybody is getting issues at some points, maybe whilst gaming a USB controller doesn't fire at random times but its something that most people don't notice.

There seems to be a lot of denial that there is an issue with X99 but a quick search of Google makes it clear that there are massive issues that have never been solved.
