Windows 10: Xbox Console Companion errors - Windows 10 FIX (Services, Teredo, Port-forward)

If you have problems with XBOX Console Companion and XBOX Tchat like I did, here's how I fixed it.


Services issue:

1. Make sure the services "IPHelper" and "WinHTTP web proxy auto-discover" are running.
   (Search "services" in the "start" menu)
2. If they are not running, try starting them up.
   "IPHelper" needs the "winHTTP..." service to run.
3. If "winHTTP..." is disabled, you need to go into the "Regestry Editor" and change the "start" value to 2. (Type "regedit" in the "start" menu, navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinHttpAutoProxySvc"
   and change the "start" value to 2.
   Restart your computer, and now the services should be running

Teredo issue:

1. If "IPHelper" is running but you still have problems, look into XBOX Networking in Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking to see if the problem comes from Teredo.
2. Startup a command prompt console as administrator.
   (search "cmd" in the "start" menu" and right-click "run as administrator".)
3. Run the following command to start Teredo: "netsh interface teredo set state type=client".
4. Check again Xbox Networking.
5. Still have problems with Teredo? Try the following command to specify the server:
   "netsh interface teredo set state servername=teredo.remlab.net"

Can't play online after all that? You might need port-forwarding or update firewall rules.

1. You need access to your router settings.
2. You need a static IPv4 address ideally.
   (Or you can hope your router always gives you the same IP)
3. XBOX Live uses the following ports that you need to forward to your computer's IP address from your router settings. (look-up how to port-forward with the router you have).
4. Firewall: If you still have problems, disable your firewall to test if it's the one blocking the connection. If so, reactive your firewall and add rules to allow connections through those ports.

Port Forwarding:
- 53 both
- 88 UDP
- 500 UDP
- 3074 both
- 3544 UDP
- 4500 UDP

The Xbox app has been renamed to Xbox Console Companion starting with version 48.54.3003.0 for Windows 10.

From What's new:

"Pardon our dust. This app is being renamed to Xbox Console Companion to be a dedicated app for your Xbox console's features and settings. A new desktop experience is coming soon!"

XBOX COnsole Companion doesn't work- use Xbox Console Companion - Beta

FYI

Windows store sells and trades via XBOX Live Ultimate for PC, games and though I have found this question. "Xbox for PC game doesn't start"; I haven't found any answers. The problem is with Xbox console companion which has become updated in new form XBOX
Console Companion-Beta.

I usually have given up when there is no starting a game and after resetting or reinstalling game fails, and I would have missed this for I seldom install beta software, but I wanted to play this game. The game did not sign in properly using the Xbox Companion,
which is necessary to run the game.

Simply sign-in to games using Xbox Console Companion-Beta.
