Windows 10: Xbox controller triggers not working in red dead redemption 2 for pc

I upgraded my os from win7 to win10 on wednesday. I went on the computer wednesday night to play rdr2 and found the triggers on my controller are not working. All other bindings seem to work fine. They worked prior to the upgrade but not after. I spent the rest of the night asking google for answers but nothing worked. Thursday night I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with xbox support. Ive stumped them all. They could not help me. They have escalated it to MS engineers but he said it may be several days to hear back, if in fact, they can find a solution. Has anyone else had this issue? How to fix? Xbox assistant does not recognize that my controller is connected so I cannot try to update it there. I deleted and reinstalled the drivers from MS and this didnt work. I tried different controllers and different controller mappings. I have tried wireless and wired connections. the triggers are not working on pc. I connected them back on my xbox and they work fine. There has been an issue between the controller software and windows 10 and I have reached the end of my feeble capacity to try to figure out anything else. Anyone with any advise please help. it is a standard xbox wireless controller. Not elite. TYIA
