Windows 10: Xbox one controller bluetooth pairing PC

I've read a few posts here and there doesn't seem to be a direct solution. I've never used an xbox one controller so I'm not sure how the controller interacts with the pc. I bought an xbox one controller yesterday to to Monster Hunter. The controller works fine when I plug it in with a cable. However, it doesn't seem to function well when trying to connect it through bluetooth. I can pair the controller and my computer recognizes the device with no issue. The controller even works momentarily before it starts having serious input lag and starts having a blinking light.

These are the steps I took to try and troubleshoot the problem.

1. I checked if the controller was defective. I plugged the controller in with a cable and was able to play with 0 issues. The controller works fine outside of bluetooth connectivity.
2. I updated my bluetooth drivers with the most current ones. Everything is up to date.
3. I paired my controller through the bluetooth settings and it pairs fine. The problem happens when I try and actually play the game. The light starts blinking and there's huge input lag and sometimes it stops working completely for a couple seconds.
4. I did all the obvious stuff that you would do. Make sure the batteries are working, restarted my computer, reinstalled drivers, etc.
5. I made sure the xbox one controller was capable of wireless connectiong via bluetooth (It is).

That's all I've tried so far. I could go ahead and use the controller with the cable, but that defeats the purpose of having a wireless device. I'm not really sure what else to try and I've been sifting through these forums for a couple hours now. I'm hearing people talk about an xbox wireless dongle, but wouldn't that be redundant? I already have bluetooth capability why would I need an added dongle? Hopefully someone can lead in me in the right direction before I make a return.

Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc

Step 1: If the device is not detected run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

• Press Windows key from the keyboard, type

• Click on view all option on the upper left corner of

Bluetooth Pairing - Xbox One Elite Controller

Hi,

I've got a new Alienware desktop running Win 10 Home x64. Bluetooth appears to be working, but I'm not getting the Xbox One Elite Controller in the list of available devices when I attempt the pairing. The light on the controller flashes normally when I
press the pairing button, but on the PC, I'm only getting four or five generic 'unknown' devices. I've tried a few, but none will connect.

To troubleshoot, I unplugged the power from the Xbox, just to make sure there wasn't a pairing conflict between the game console and Windows. Doesn't help. I've also tried pairing in the new Win 10 interface, as well as through NCPA.cpl.

When I get home, I'm going to try pairing the controller with another computer, but I'm also interested in any suggestions this community can provide.
