Windows 10: Xbox One Controller Drivers

I have recently bought a Windows 10 PC. I tried to plug my controller in to play games with it however it just does a little rumble, the light does not come on, and the controller does not work. I have looked through the device manager and cannot find any controller drivers. I have updated Windows numerous times, tried manually installing drivers, tried changing the usb cable and still no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. For reference, my boyfriend plugged his controller into his pc and worked straight away...

Xbox One controller being recognized as a 360 Controller

There are several reasons why your Xbox One controller is detected as an Xbox 360 controller by your PC. It is possible that the controller is not updated or if you previously used an Xbox 360 controller on the PC, it is still detecting its drivers instead
of the Xbox One controller drivers. To properly isolate your concern, please clarify the following information:

• Have you used an Xbox 360 controller on the same computer before?
• Does the error message occur on all of the games that you play?
• Have you tried to update the controller?
• Are you using an Xbox One Elite controller?

Xbox One controller working wrong

The issue may be related to the incompatible Xbox one controller drivers.



Please try the steps below and see if it helps:

• Press Windows key + R key. Type "devmgmt.msc" and click Enter.
• In the Device Manager, go to > Human Interface Devices > Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class .
• If you notice a yellow exclamation, double-click on the Xbox One Controller and go to the Driver tab, click on Update.
• If the driver is already updated, uninstall the driver and then reinstall it.

I would also suggest you check if the game is compatible with Windows 10.

To assist you better, please provide us the below information:

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• Is there any symbol on Coprecessor driver?

Refer to the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on
Enter Key.

3. Expand other devices.

4. Right click on Coprecessor driver, click on update driver software.

5. Try to brows my computer for driver support.

5. Then select the available drivers from the list.

Step 2; I recommend you to check for Xbox controller in Universal Serial Bus Controller under Device Manager. Check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on Enter Key.

3. Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers and try to update all the drivers in the list.

4. Right click on the xbox controller driver and click on Update driver software.
