Windows 10: Xbox One Wireless Controller (5 months old, new batteries) turns off after 0,1 seconds.

Title says it all. I've been searching on Google but can't find anything. Basically when I turn on my controller to connect it to Windows 10, it lights up the white LED for a split second and stays off. The batteries I use are from the company I've used the whole time, simple AA batteries. The 2 batteries I have in the controller right now are 100% new.

Is there anybody that can help me fix this? I guess my controller is just broken?

Edit: It does work when I plug it in with a Micro-USB cable to my PC!

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Battery Status

After the Windows 10 November 2015 Update -Battery Level- is not available. But I finally found a
solution!

The problem occurs because the new Windows build 10586 (November 2015 update) has a new driver which doesn't support this feature.

Please follow through:

1. Make sure that that the Xbox DVR is turned off in the Xbox app (otherwise you get the DVR when pressing the Xbox button)

2. Install the Xbox 360 Gaming software 1.2 (That's the Windows 7 version 32bit or 64bit) and restart PC.

3. In device manager under 'Xbox 360 Peripherals' double click 'Xbox 360 Wireless receiver for Windows'

Click the 'Driver' tab and click 'Update Driver...'. Click 'Browse my computer for driver software'

Click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'

You will see (at least) 2 drivers listed here. Click on the driver with version 2.1.0.1349 and click next to complete the installation

Now the Battery Level is shown when you click the Xbox button on the Xbox 360 wireless controller! Yes!!



Update: Perhaps you're better off using the default Windows 10 driver. I think the old driver doesn't work as well.

 

Wireless Xbox One controller requires PIN for Windows 10.

Hi,

You will be asked for a PIN when connecting your wireless Xbox One controller via Bluetooth on Windows 10 if your Bluetooth drivers are not updated. It is also possible that you have to reset the controller to remove the PIN. To resolve your concern, restart
your controller by following the steps below:

• Power off the controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button on the controller for 6 seconds.
• Press the Xbox button again to power it back on.
• Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller to your PC using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.
