Windows 10: Xbox One wireless USB adapter doesn't pair with Xbox One controllers

Hello,


I recently had an issue with my computer and had to completely reinstall Windows on my system.

After this issue, I tried to reconnect my Xbox One controllers using my USB wireless receiver and noticed they didn't automatically pair. I thought it was the normal behavior since I juste restarted and simply had to use the "link" button to pair everything back.
However, this did absolutely nothing and my controller both blink like when they are "searching" for something to connect to.
My USB receiver also blinks like it usually does when it is waiting for pairing.

But despite those blinks, nothing ever pairs and my controller keeps searching indefinitely.


I have tried absolutely everything you support suggests:

- Rebooting with the device connected

- Rebooting with the device not connected

- Putting it in another port

- Putting it in another port after rebooting

- Putting it in another port before rebooting

- Uninstalling the driver

- Forcing Windows Update to look for updates

- Asking the device manager to look for a driver update

- Trying to connect my controllers with a usb cable worked fine

- Changing the batteries of the controllers

- I don't have a Xbox One console so I can't try to connect them to the console to see if it works

- I tried with both of my controllers and they have the same exact behavior


The wireless receiver is an official product purchased on Amazon and it is properly recognized by Windows it shows up in the device manager, under Network Adapter.

It is named "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows", version 1.0.46.1 07/Nov/2017



Everywhere on the internet and on the support, I see "It should work without doing anything". Well it doesn't and I have no idea what I could do to repair things.

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.
