Windows 10: Xbox wireless adapter for Windows disconnect fix?

I've used the adapter *both old style, and now the smaller style for years generally without issue, however recently I am unable to get it to pair with my controller on any consistent basis. IF I do actually get it to pair, it will not reconnect after restarting Windows the next time, requiring to fumble around attempting often without success to get it to pair again. I should mention that it was around that time that I upgraded my motherboard from a z390 to a z670, and obviously my cpu from an 9900k to a 12700k which leads me to think it might be the chipset however that is unclear.By fum

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows keeps getting disconnected.

Wasn't sure to post this question on Windows or Gaming/Xbox section. Gonna go with Windows since I play on PC

On the device manager, the driver "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows" is hidden, and when I click properties it says the device is disconnected (code 45).





Been happening with the old big adapter, bought the newer smaller model and it's still happening. At first it stays connected, but after sleeping and waking up several times it becomes "disconnected" as shown, although the adapter is connected physically.

Usually rebooting computer fixes the problem, but it's ridiculous I have to reboot the computer and re-launch everything I had opened up just to make the adapter working again.

Things I've tried:

• Rebooting, as mentioned above. Usually a temporary solution before the disconnection happens again
  
  • Tried Uninstalling it before reboot. No difference.
    
• Unplugging and re-plugging the adapter with different ports on my computer. Doesn't do anything
  
• Updating the driver. The computer says it's already updated to the latest version. If I choose "let me pick from the list...." option, it comes down to "a single driver at the end, the message says it's been successfully installed, then nothing changes.
