Windows 10: You can soon make, receive Android phone calls from Windows 10

Windows 10’s Your Phone app bridges the gap between desktop and Android smartphones, allowing you to send and receive texts right from your PC. Windows 10 Your Phone app was recently updated with screen mirroring support and it looks the Redmond firm is preparing another big update for the app.

At Samsung’s Galaxy Note10 launch event, Microsoft teased a new Your Phone app feature that might soon allow you to make and receive phone calls. While Microsoft hasn’t revealed how the feature will work, it’s likely that Your Phone app should be able to bring up phone’s dialer or contact list, so you can place calls without even touching your smartphone.

The call placed via your PC will use the PC’s speakers and built-in mic. Similarly, if someone calls you on your Android handset, you’ll be able to attend the call from your PC. Microsoft says you can also reject the call right from your PC and reply with a text or voicemail.

“Later this year, we are planning to introduce the ability to make and receive mobile calls directly from your PC. Accept the call, reply with a text, or send the caller to voicemail right from your PC,” Microsoft said.

With Microsoft’s Continuum essentially defunct, the premise of Your Phone app is now simple: Leave your phone in your pocket.

It's not perfect but it will do what you need. You need to install on the PHONE as well -- this isn't clear from the documentation but it does work and you DON'T NEED THE PREMIUM (i.e PAY) piece.

You can also initiate a call using AirDroid on your PC, but the call isn't shared with your computer. The PC is only useful as a phone dialer.

1.Click the phone icon at the top of the page, next to the search bar on web.airdroid.com.


2.Dial the number in the keypad. As you start typing the number, a list of contacts with similar numbers will show up on the right. So you can also click the contact you want to call.


3.Click the blue Call button. Now you will have to switch to your Android phone to speak to the person. This is an unfortunate limitation and we suggest that you use a Bluetooth headset paired with your phone as a workaround.


4.AirDroid doesn't let you receive calls via the computer either, but you can reject calls with a text message. When someone calls, you will see a pop-up in the browser window. Click Reject to disconnect the call or Reject with message to send a text message to the caller.

$.10 android apps

Not sure if anyone's seen this yet, but they have $.10 (yes, 10 cents) android apps on the Android Market to celebrate 10 BILLION downloads. So far I've picked up Tetris, Need for Speed Shift, SoundHound amd ADWLauncher EX. There were several other games that were listed, including ones too good for my phone *Frown
