    I frequently get the error message "you need permission to perform this action". Most recently, trying to copy a file from a notebook networked drive to my desktop computer.

    I'm the only person using my computers and network. Of course, I have administrator privileges. How can I keep from having this error?

    I installed boot camp to my 2017 MacBook Air running HighSierra. Everything is working fine except for the fact that I can't make new folders on my USB flash drive. I've made myself the owner and gave myself full control and it still doesn't work. I'm
    not that great with computers and I'm really stuck.

    Go to the computer that you do have permission > right click on file or folder > poperties > share with > advanced sharing > sharing > advanced sharing > permission > click on full control and change > apply > ok then your done.

    I don't know what you mean "Go to the computer that you do have permission". The computer that I'm using doesn't grant me permission to copy a file. I have done the routine that you suggest using the properties dialog.
