Windows 10: You need permission to perform this action

    I am trying to copy a file to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts. I've tried various things, but I keep getting the message, "You need permission to perform this action.", It does create an empty file which I cannot delete. I am logged in as the domain Administrator and I have specified Properties > Security on folder Acronis for user Administrator as Full Control, and for Advanced I have specified "Re[;ace all child object permission entries with inherited entries from this object." The permissions shown for folder Scripts is shown in the image.below.So, why can't I copy files to

    I don't know what you mean "Go to the computer that you do have permission". The computer that I'm using doesn't grant me permission to copy a file. I have done the routine that you suggest using the properties dialog.

    Hi,

    I would suggest you to right click on the user's folder for your profile and check if the permissions shows as "read only'. If this is the case, it might be causing the issue. In this case, I would suggest you to go to C:\User folder, right click on the
    folder with your username and follow these steps:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
    This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Try these steps and let us know the results for further assistance.

    Microsoft clearly just hates the customers. After working fine for months, if I want to move a file from one computer to another on the homegroup- you need permission to perform this action.

    Well that is crap. There is no way to get the permission!!!! I don't need permission to toss all these machines in the garbage and go back to apple. BAH!!!!
