Windows 10: "You'll need a new app to open this ms-wpc" when trying to install/run google chrome

Hey, I have an issue that I'd like to get fixed.

So I just got a brand new desktop on 8-2-19, and I've been trying to install/run an app for the whole time I've had it.

My issue is that whenever I download chrome, then click to open the web browser, it immediately pops up with "You'll need a new app to open this ms-wpc" I have an option to search for an app in the appstore to open it, but whenever I do that, the appstore says "no results found for ms-wpc"

I have tried various 'solutions' for my issue but nothing has worked. Here is what I have tried:

-Troubleshooting both chrome and the appstore

-resetting the appstore

-uninstalling, then reinstalling chrome (multiple times)

-restarting my computer

-I have tried the solution here; https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/what-the-hell-is-ms-wpc/f21a9f4f-27d2-4750-aee4-6e252a78a75f (but it never worked, and I've tried it multiple times as well)


I'm unsure what to do at this point, in the past solutions that I've found online have usually worked. At this point I can't find anything that I haven't done yet. All I want is to be able to make chrome my default browser and actually use it.

When I try to open Google Chrome, I get an error message saying "You'll need a new app to open this ms-wpc"
I don't even know how to download whatever that is.

Possible minor bug - Update with both Opera 2x & Google Chrome installed

Strange bug: Running the previous-older version of GPU-Z on Windows 7, 64-bit, SP1 and trying to update GPU-Z. Have Opera 23/24 installed as a 2ndary web browser, and Google Chrome installed as default/main web browser.
Steps that work fine:
1) Run GPU-Z whatever version.
2) Open About.
3) Click the links.
Result: Links open correctly in default browser - Google Chrome.

Steps to reproduce bug:
1) Run GPU-Z, version before latest.
2) Try to check for updates.
3) GPU-Z says an update is available.
4) Tell it to show the update.
Result: Link opens incorrectly in Opera 23/24, instead of default Google Chrome web browser.
Expected: Open in Google Chrome instead.

Note: Opera 23/24 uses the same core as Google Chrome.

Please check and fix, if necessary.
