    Your Email Account Settings Are Out Of Date


    My dad's Outlook email stopped working a couple days ago and I can't fix it. It says Email account settings are out of date. I click fix it and let it go for 6+ hours and it didn't do anything. I Googled around and changed the time and date settings like people said but it didn't fix it. None of the things people recommended fixed it.

    My dad can't receive any emails and I don't know how to fix it.

    What do I do?

    Unauthorized Emails from my account?

    It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

    Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.

    I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you are receiving an error that the email account settings are out of date. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



    However, please let us know:



    • When you say “when I go to verify them there is a password that I did not enter”, may I know the verify section that you are referring?
    • Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?


    I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

    Your account settings are out-of-date in Mail or Calendar for Windows 10     and see if that helps.

    If this is with a MS, Apple or Gmail account you have two-step/two-factor verification on it? If so you'll need an app specific password for the email account.
    I had that error message on my iCloud email account in Win 10 mail app & this cured it for me.
