Windows 10: Your Phone app goes dormant

I am trying to use and like the Your Phone app but I find it annoying at best because it will work for awhile to send and receive text messages but after an undetermined (short) amount of time, it will simply stop sending or receiving. The app isn't frozen since I can still scroll the display and look at settings, etc... Clicking on Refresh will cause it to display the text "Refreshing" with animated "..." but never actually refreshes. My phone (Samsung S20 FE) shows that it is connected to my PC. My PC is currently running the 2004 update of Win 10 Pro 64-bit.

The only way I've found to get it to start working again is to exit the app and reopen it. Once I do that, it will send/receive texts for another short time but will then go dormant again.

I don't see any relevant entries in the Events log and I tried doing a repair of the app. Anyone experienced similar issues? Were you able to get it to work reliably?

Supported phones for Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview


Your list confirms my phone is eligible, Lumia 521. The windows Insider App fails after ~ 15 seconds, restores data and gives me error 80073cf9. I trouble shot this and went thru all the steps mentioned on several websites including MS without any luck. Short of a hard reset, this is where I am now. Suggestions appreciated.

 

Windows 8.1 phone app problem

We suggest that you follow these steps:

• Launch Storage Sense.
• Select the folder which the app is installed (phone or memory card).
• Tap Apps+games.
• Select the app and then uninstall.
• Re-install the app by going to the Store.
