Windows 10: ZIP Encryption What happened to the common way

In older versions of Windows, there used to be a way to add passwords to ZIP folders. Now Windows 10 doesn't have that feature? The method to go into the file properties and use the Encrypt attribute isn't secure at all. There is still a column hidden by default called "Password Protected" for the Explorer's viewing options. So why can't passwords be applied? See screenshots

For us to be able to isolate your concern why your devices page says it is not encrypted when you've turn on encryption, kindly answer these questions:

• Does this happen before you encrypt the device?
• Which Windows version currently running on your device?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

.zip can't be set to File Explorer

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Type Default programs
  in the search bar and press enter
  
• 
  Click on choose default programs by file type
  
• 
  Select .zip
  and select File Explorer

Encrypted Zip Files

Then i am sorry to say you will not be able to open that encrypted zip file.

You need a key in order to open it.
