    Zip files can't be uncompressed

So WinRar was notifying me that I had to pay for their software or delete it from my computer. I deleted it as I already had another application on my computer that did the same thing (7-Zip). There is now no option to "Extract" or "Extract All" anywhere when I right-click. I tried going to the settings where it allows you to select the appropriate default application for whatever specific file type. To my surprise, there was a huge list of file types but no ".zip" extension.

    :)

    Zip File

'Zip' is colloquial in computer-speak for 'compressed,' so a zipped file is a compressed file.

An archive is a folder that contains compressed files.

Like Bruce says, there's nothing officially called a 'zip archive' but sometimes people use that term to mean an archive compressed with the zip method, because there are many ways to compress files.

Likewise, to un-zip is to uncompress.
