    Local Profile Issues After Build Upgrades


    Hello,
    Noticed a couple of annoying things with a recent build upgrade from 1803 to 1903.

    1. The local profile seemed broken. Start menu wouldn't work etc. But when you logged in under a local user (domain machine) you could remove the domain user locally and it would return to normal.
    2. Downside of step 1 is - any data in Windows Apps (not installed programs) is gone. This can include lots of personalization as well.

    Any ideas as to why this happens? I've seen this in multiple upgrades. Even on last years upgrades to 1803 I witnessed the local profile issues.

    Not listed in the Known.

    Known issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903


    As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


    I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

    Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.

    Migrate Locale Profile to Domain


    I removed my reply because watching those instructions on TechNet I started wondering if they really work with Windows 10.

    Anyway, whatever you try create first a dummy profile, customize it a bit and move it to domain. If everything works, you can then move real profiles.
