Windows 10: 1903 update becoming a problem!

Since updating Windows 10 to 1903:


1. Start button doesn't work with left click

2. Search bar doesn't work (at all)

3. Cortana doesn't work


I have tried:


1. Restarts, etc

2. Re-install Windows apps via PowerShell (fails)

3. Directly running StartMenuExperienceHost from the relevant Windows folder (fails, won't run)

4. Re-install Windows (1903) -keeping apps - from an image on USB (fails - erm, why?)


I am considering:


1. Accepting the situation and waiting for some sort of corrective update

2. Reinstalling from scratch (very bad option as I'm writing up a PhD, I have a lot of related apps such as stats programs that would be difficult to reinstall, or would take more time than I have)

3. Install 3rd party shell (any suggestions?)

Local profile issue after upgrading to 1903

Not listed in the Known.

Known issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903


As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.

Win 10 1803 to 1903 update

My Desktop computer running Win 10 updated from version 1803 to 1903 a while back, but my Desktop running Win 10 version 1803

I'm assuming the update 1803 to 1903 has now resumed after the earlier problems caused a suspension?

Any thoughts, suggestions?

 

Windows Home 10 update from 1803 to 1903

I have windows 10 x64 home edition, version 1803.

I'm trying to update it to the new onw, version 1903, but my pc freezes every time when the installation is going to finish (around 80%).

I tried to update the OS in different ways:

1. Start > Settings > Update
   & Security > Windows Update , and then select Check for updates.
   If updates are available, install them.
2. Download the Update Assistant
3. Download the Media Creation Tool 1903

The result is always the same.

No errors, only pc freezing.

What do you suggest to do?
