  1. 1903 Update - Font Cache CPU use at startup

I'm running Windows 10 1903 on a Surface Pro 4, i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB, and ever since installing the feature update, my CPU usage is dominated by the Font Caching Service upon cold booting or restarting the computer. It doesn't happen when waking from sleep. As a result, I am unable to access programs from the taskbar or even open the Start Menu for a few minutes until the caching process is complete. I just installed the 2019-05 Cumulative Update for 1903 and that did not seem to fix the issue. It’s a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless. I installed the feature update as a clean installation and load it back in a lot of fonts, as well as installing Adobe Creative Cloud. I do have a lot of fonts linked to my subscription, but I never experienced this issue on previous versions of Windows 10. Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution?

    Corrupted Fonts

    In addition you can try:

    • Stop Windows Font Cache service in services.msc.

    • Run C-Cleaner System / Font Cache option.

    • Start Windows Font Cache service again.

If you have Ccleaner installed it's possible that you'd need CCEnhancer to see the font cache option.

If you don't have it - read this:

1903 Update - Font Cache CPU use at startup

    Fonts

    Hello,

I found these steps in this forum from back in 2010:

    Step 1:

I would suggest you to try these steps and check whether it helps in fixing your issue.

Open font settings by clicking on start, click on control panel, and then click on appearance and personalization, under fonts click on change font settings. And select the font size.

    Step 2:

If you’re trying to change windows font size then please follow the steps below:

    To change Windows fonts

    1. Open Appearance Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type window color, and then click Change window colors and
    metrics
    .

    2. In the Item list, click the part of Windows that you want to change the font for. For example, if you want to change the menu font, click Menu in the list. Then, make any of the following changes:

    · In the Font list, click the font that you want to use.

    · In the Size list, click the font size that you want.

    · In the Color list, click the font color that you want.

    3. Repeat these steps for each item that you want to make changes to, and then click OK.

    Does that help?
