    I see you've fixed your problems now, but FYI...

    I said check the Workgroup, not create a Homegroup. The two are very different things. All networked Windows PCs from Windows 3.11 on (aka Windows for Workgroups) are always set up as members of a Workgroup. The Homegroup is an 'optional extra' on top of that, first seen in Win7.     Thank you for being persistent with me!! When you replied Workgroup, my addlepated brain read Homegroup. After your final post the light came on in the back of my brain and I reread your statement and made the correction of the wrong Workgroup names so they all agreed with my XP netbook and now all four computers are again speaking with each other.

    Workgroup networking has provided reliable peer-to-peer networking for years. Homegroup was an idea that never really worked well/properly. Microsoft will remove it from the next version of Windows 10, it has already been removed from the Insider builds...
