Adding IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree"=dword:00000000 to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}] also works, at least on build 10586.

    Hello hippopotamus, *Smile

That would be the same browse window used by the Copy To and Move To options like below. I just checked, and the tutorial works for them as well.

Double check to make sure that you have also done step 10 since you have a 64-bit Windows 10. Afterwards, you'll need to sign out or restart the computer to apply.

I was under the impression that I had done both these steps, but that was probably on some other installation. Yep, it is working now. Thanks!

    Hello

There's an easier way to hide this network icon in windows explorer, with a reg key (policy), without change any permission in registry :

    For all users :

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\NonEnum]
    "{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}"=dword:00000001

    For current user :

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\NonEnum]
    "{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}"=dword:00000001

    That's it ! Works under 7/8/8.1 too.

    Thank you Tim. *Smile

That option will also remove the "Network" desktop icon, and not just from the navigation pane.

It just depends if that matters for it to be a problem for some folks or not.

    Hi,

I have performed this task (removing Network from Windows Explorer navigation) literally hundreds of times in Windows 7. It is even the same registry key, which I have memorized.

I am attempting this on a new Windows 10 machine I am setting up. I am logged in as the local Administrator, which is my usual process.

I am at the key in regedit and I cannot change permissions to allow Administrators full control - I get the error "Unable to save permission changes on ShellFolder. Access is denied."

I am totally stumped as to where to go from here if even the Administrator account cannot change this.

I thought about trying to take ownership in Advanced, taking it away from SYSTEM, but I am not sure if that will affect anything else down the line.

Hello ozium, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

That's correct. You will need to take ownership of the "ShellFolder" key as noted in step 4 first before you will be able to change its permissions.
