Windows 10: AMD update confusion

And are you using a ssd or a hard drive ?

AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series is 15.201.1151.1008

AMD Radeon HD 6620G is 15.201.1151.0

 

Hard drive, no ssd

 

I tried this one and it loads Catalyst Control.

 

I am now using Basic MS drivers. And boot time is great. Tried everything AMD had and it just didn't work. I also turned of driver update in windows to prevent it from installing the old AMD drivers. Here is the link:

With basic drivers you are loosing graphics performance.

 

That's OK. Told my friend (his laptop) what the deal was and he is going to try it out. If he wants we can restore the Windows 7 image back on it. Learned a lot doing this.Good thing I love this stuff.

 

I had the slow boot problem too but it can be fixed. First use the registry cleaner in CCleaner. Then I used Puran defrag to analyse and found that the registry was highly fragmented. I did a boot time defrag and rebooted and the problem was better but still not gone. I then ran Puran Defrag again with the PIOZR optimizer as an additional option and that fixed the problem completely. The optimizer consolidates the system files and puts them on the fastest part of the disc. It's like doing a clean install but without losing anything. I swear by Puran as the only defrag program to use.

The problem is not driver related. This laptop has the HD6620G graphics and the driver Windows 10 installed worked fine . I did an in place upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10 Home and the procedure I used with CCleaner and Puran Defrag set everything straight without changing any drivers. The graphics driver that Windows 10 provides for the 6620G is actually the best possible one to use.
