  3. Import windows 7 favourites to Windows 10favorites

So my understanding from post response's is that in order to get my favorites into windows 10 is to hit the hub icon in edge and choose import faves. Then choose which browser to import from(i.e. 11 in my case, from win 7). Is that about right?

What's your Win 10 version? (Tho' this feature had been in a long time).

Which other browsers do you have installed? 32 b or 64b?

an inquiry about import/export faves in edge to html?

I've only noted IE, Chrome and Firefox mentioned. I (still) have Pale Moon installed, but it's not listed in Edge either.

I guess somewhere there'll be a list of supported browsers, but my guess is it won't include the minor ones.

Of course you could create a new user for test purposes, and see what you see for comparison. I'm at a loss to suggest what to do with your present situation, bar re-registering Edge,
Microsoft Edge - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 10
or perhaps transferring to a new user acct.

If you look at the tutorials, you will see FF, Chrome, IE mentioned.

If you have other issues as well, I suggest you go straight to an in-place upgrade repair install rather than trying to fix individual things.

Precede it with this in case sthg has happened to your file system:

    From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

An In-place upgrade repair install will fix many things, but not those where the settings are not changed by the procedure.

For this you need an installation medium with the same base build as you have installed, and x64 if you have a 64 bits OS, else x86 (32 bits).

    Recommendation:
Before you perform the following major repair procedure, do create a disk image (see below).

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Tutorials
    - this includes a link from which you can obtain a Windows 10 iso file (" download a Windows 10 ISO"), or create a Win 10 bootable medium.

I would recommend creating the bootable medium, as this can be used
    - for any future in-place upgrade repair install
    - to boot from and use its recovery options should Windows become unbootable.
    - to clean install Windows

This will refresh Windows, after the manner of a Windows installation.
    - all/most associations will be unchanged
    - all your programs will be left installed
    - However: if you have installed some on a 2nd drive, these must be uninstalled or reinstalled on C: - else you will get an error message that you can not keep my apps because they arein an unsupported directory.
    - no personal data should be affected
    - you will lose any custom fonts
    - you will lose any customised system icons
    - you may need to re-establish your Wi-Fi connection
    - you will need to redo Windows updates subsequent to the build you have used for the repair install
    - Windows.old will be created
    - system restore will be turned off- you should turn it on again and I recommend you manually schedule a daily restore point.
    - you will need to redo any language downloads including the display language if you changed that)
    - inactive title bar colouring (if used) will be reset to default
    - if Qttabbar is installed, you need to re-enable it in explorer (Options, check Qttabbar)
This is one of the better features of Win10: as each major build comes out, that's your updated reference build, and as updates are mostly cumulative, there will be few to do.

Please consider using disk imaging regularly. It's a brilliant way to
    - preserve your system (and your sanity)
    - back up your data
    - restore your system to a previously working state in a relatively short time

Recommended: Macrium Reflect (free/commercial) + boot disk/device + large enough external storage medium.

It's essentially straightforward - BUT it may well not solve user account corruption. It won't solve everything- but it's worth trying.

Of course maintaining a set of system and disk image backups is vital to help prevent disaster and provide a way forward - or should that be back?

  13. an inquiry about import/export faves in edge to html?

like I said I'm not willing to do a reset. but ya know..ive had more trouble with this pc -when I still had my hp running vista, I had no visable trouble. I don't who to blame..win10 or the brand since getting pc last july, I reset 2 times last year. if push comes to shove, I might reconsider to do a reset.

That's not a reset- that's something else entirely- this keeps all your programs and data.

However, as I said, it may not solve user account corruption.

    Hi there

I can confirm that if you don't have any other browsers you only see the IE 11 option. This is on the LATEST W10 X64 Pro version - installed and updated last Sunday.

However that's not a problem since you can export to an html file so you should be able to import to any browser you like -- Just run your IE11 once to export the file - default name will be something like bookmark.html

If you can do html you can modify the file manually for missing / new entries before importing it to the relevant browser.

    Cheers
