    @dmholt57

    You should probably clear all the data in your browser...

    How do you do that? I'm still a Rookie!

    If you are using Edge, go to the three dots on top right, click, settings at very bottom, scroll down in middle is Clear Browsing Data, button below, choose what to clear, clear all... *Smile

    And flush your DNS cache.

    Admin Command Prompt:
    Code: ipconfig /flushdns[/quote] Actually, changing the DNS servers in your NIC(s) to OpenDNS will help prevent you from going to known-bad sites:

    208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 (IPv4)

    2620:0:ccc::2 and 2620:0:ccd::2 (IPv6)

    @simrick @dmholt57

    I did the FlushDNS, and I entered the DNS figures given above in the ipv4 and ipv6 windows. I also cleared all of the Data from my only Browser, Microsoft Edge.

    The computer entered "64" as what they called the "Subnet Mask."

    If I have any more problems with the Tech Support Scam, I'll post it on this thread and let all of the contributors to the thread know what is happening.

    Thanks again, guys, for all of your help.

    Welcome.
    Just FYI: Internet Explorer is on a Windows 10 system as well, and, even if you don't use it, some infections mess with the settings. Need to clear out all browsers and RESET.

    OK, I cleared the browsers again. I found Internet Explorer under Windows Accessories and pinned it to my Start Page. I then went to Internet Options Advanced and made sure that "Disable Script Debugging for Internet Explorer" was checked (it was) and then clicked Reset.

    Thanks again for the information.

    Good luck!
    I will mention though, if your friend actually let the scammers remote into the system, then it's time for a complete wipe and reinstall. All passwords will need to be changed from a known-clean system right away too.

    I don't think he allowed them in. He called me immediately after getting the screen and I had him unplug the Internet cable and power it off.
    He doesn't use his PC for banking, etc. Mainly browsing and e-mail.
