Windows 10: BSOD when gaming windows 10

Hi,
When playing games such as PUBG on my new gaming laptop, the game will crash half way through and give me a blue screen with the code: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. It will then restart. I have removed McAfee as I read that that could be one of the problems but it still persists. At this point I don't know what to do. Can you suggest anything that might solve this issue?

To add to this, I ran a Crash analysis with WhoCrashed and got this description:

Blue Screen While Playing Online Games

Hello, I have recently upgraded from Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Build 10240 to Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Build 10586.3. A BSOD is always being triggered when I play online games. The BSOD usually occurs during loading and it has an error message of " KMode_Exception_Not_Handled
caused by dump_wmimmc.sys ".

What is the root cause and the possible solution?

By the way the online game that I play is CABAL Online and this is the only game in my PC that triggers BSOD. Other games work normally aside.

1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
2) sfc /scannow
3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
4) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
5) chkdsk /x /f /r
This may take many hours so plan to run overnight.
6) Find the chkdsk report in the event viewer and post into the thread using the information in this link:

7) Run HDTune:
HD Tune website

to check the health,
scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
run a benchmark.


It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following

transfer rate,
access time,
burst rate,
cpu usage.

11) The best way to fix the misbehaving Nvidia driver is to uninstall everything Nvidia using Display driver uninstaller and install new drivers from the computer manufacturer's website or from the Nvidia website.The computer manufacturer's web site is preferred.
Enter the computer's serial or product number and the operating system to view available drivers.
If you use the Nvidia web site be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the graphics driver and the physx driver.

Just 1 error is a fail and you can abort testing.
Then test 1 RAM module at a time in the same DIMM each for 8 or more passes.
When Memtest86+ has completed 8 or more passes use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post an image into the thread.

Thanks for this. I am currently running the command prompt steps. Will re installing Nvidia cost anything? Also, this is a new laptop which i bought a couple of days ago so I can return it since it has warranty. But I have alot of my files and things on the computer now so i'd rather not return it if i can fix the problem myself. What would you suggest I do?

 

There were 4 misbehaving drivers identified.
3 were software drivers (2 Mcafee, 1 Battleye)
1 was a hardware driver (Nvidia)

Ordinarily if you did not have important files on the computer I would have you return it. It should be trouble free from the start.

If you can backup your files to a flash drive you can return the computer and reinstall the files on the replacement computer.

Let's see what happens with the updates:
1) bios
2) use the HP support assistant > download it if not yet using it > update all HP drivers as needed

There is a WHEA hardware error and that may be the last item to fix. It may get fixed with the updates of the bios and drivers.

Later in the thread I'll give you instructions on running the software to test the other hardware conmponents using the HP UEFI diagnostics.

All of the testing should be at no cost.

 

Theres a lot of steps to this which could take some time and ultimately doesn't guarantee it will be fixed. Which is why i'm tempted to return it. The replacement will have McAfee installed already so I might just delete that straight away. If it does it on the replacement then I guess its clear that I cant play high end games on it, after all the BSOD only appears when gaming..which is unusual since it's a gaming laptop and should be able to cope with that. Do you think its related to this specific computer and not the game/comp specs itself?

The operating system was corrupt The sfc command was able to find the corruption but was not able to fix the corruption.
The Dism command fixed the corruption.

Please confirm that the corruption has been fixed by running the sfc /scannow command again and posting the results into the thread.

Each computer environment is different so you may be able to do things on one computer with identical hardware and software that you were not able to do on the other. For this computer the operating system was corrupt so anything was possible. The Mcaffee can be reinstalled in 2 weeks if there are no BSOD. It is important to have a stable computer environment. Then when the software is reinstalled if there is a BSOD you will then uninstall it and find an alternative AV product. If when you reinstall it there are no BSOD you are set to continue using the software. The 2 weeks is useful to have the stable computer environment and see the cause and effect when reinstalling the software.
