Please monitor your temps while playing CS and report back. Is the game pirated? Does the BSOD occur with any other game?

With an 0x124 error there are a few known causes
    • Overclocking
    • Driver problems
    • Hardware damage

List is ordered from most occurring cause to less occurring cause

For overclocking, go into your BIOS setup and choose to load optimal bios settings or something like that.
Because the hardware is already tested, please check the drivers for windows 10 compatible driver updates.

I have loaded the default/optimized settings from my BIOS. But it seems like my CPU is overclocked at 3.8mhz. I think it should be aroun 3.4mhz since i7-2600k CPU's default clock speed is at 3.4. Or am I wrong?

Disable everything that has to do with overclocking.

That is actually where I am confused. In "AI Overclock tuner" its either Automatic or Manual. No option to disable it. If any of you have ASUS motherboard, could you please help me where I can disable auto tuning.

Also, the question I asked above. Does 3.8Mhz max cpu value on HWMonitor mean that my CPU is overclocked? Or is just its default max value?

Sorry, I forgot to read the question.
This CPU can have a max frequency of 3.8Ghz, this means that if your CPU is at 3.8Ghz it is overclocked.

So that means even when I load the default optimized settings from BIOS it is still overclocking? Then I need to find a way to disable it. One thing I did just now is that I chose the performance settings to Power Saving mode.

The power settings doesn't effect the overclocking frequency of the CPU.

Change the settings to manual if not possible to disable them.

I have tried to set it to manual and bring down the clockspeed to 3.4mhz manually. And after the restart it said Overclocking value failed. SOmething like that. I am installing AI Suite to configure clockspeed.

How are the settings in your BIOS?

  11. Benny Win User
I loaded everything to default. But its been on that before. I am just wondering why my CPU clock speed is jumping up to 3.8 when I didnt even do anything regarding overclocking and BIOS settings is on Default value. I installed AI suite II but did not find any option to change clock speed. I was only able to analyze the CPU. Tried to change the AI overclock tuner option to manual and brought down the CPU speed to 3.4mhz and leaving everything else as they were. After Saving and restarting my pc couldnt start. On the Bios it said Overclocking failed. Please enter setup to re-configure your system. And I had to change it back to automatic.

Could this be the issue why my PC is getting BSOD randomly? CPU clock speed jumping up to 3.8mhz randomly and getting BSOD?

Yes it could, but because the 0x124 is also related to drivers please check your drivers.
Let driver verifier first check for driver problems

    DRIVER VERIFIER

BSOD when using google Chrome and playing CS:GO [IMG]
Warning Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
    Please create a restore point.
Please follow this tutorial run driver verifier.

Some windows drivers are blamed in a few crashes, but that usually means that a 3rd party driver is actually the cause.
Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

Note Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

BSOD when using google Chrome and playing CS:GO

Ok I have just did some research on my CPU and it turns out that i7-2600k CPU has Processor Base Frequency 3.4 GHz and Max Turbo Frequency 3.8 GHz. So when my CPU clock speed jumping up to 3.8 was all Intel Turbo Boos function. I have changed the Maximum processor state to 99% (original 100%) from Power Options and now HWMonitor is showing that my Max clock speed is jumping up to 3.4 Ghz. It may have solved my problem, but the thing is I got banned from CS:GO for leaving number of matches (due to BSOD) and received standby time of 6 days. Of course I can check it by playing casual game but I dont want to. But I am installing Dota2 now and will play it to check BSOD. If it doesnt occur I will post here my review.

Good to hear, good luck with the game and hoping your system won't crash *Smile

Ok, so I have been using my PC constantly and played CS:GO about 2-3 full matches. So far no BSOD occurred! YAY! I really think that my problem has been solved. But I will come back again after more playing and more testing.
