    • Do you have another drive installed or connected to this machine?
    • Are you using an OEM recovery USB flash drive to reinstall everything as if from the factory?

If you are using a USB flash drive created from the MCT (not the OEM recovery disk), then I think you're installing to the wrong drive that you thought you installed to, i.e. disk 1 instead of disk 0 or the other way around. And windows is booting to the original drive that hosted your windows installation.

    Hi all,

Before I start doing as requested with images etc as I go through the process of deleting partitions and installing windows etc.

I ran the system info for the Tablet.
Something strange going on unless this is the norm.
The device name: it was a week or so ago Desktop-CTROQB9 and now its Desktop-VHUAJ0E
The ram has changed from 1024 DDR3L to 1.0 DIMM
The BIOS changed from 5.008 to 5.6.5
The harddisk shows 3 partitions and the logical disk as NTFS 28.52 Gb
The boot device on harddisk vol 2 and system device vol 4

Is the norm and should I do anything else before carrying on as requested with images etc.

    thanks

  3. Don't worry about the device name Windows 10 Installation changes that every time for some unknown reason and always calls it a Desktop. As for the BIOS it looks like its just been updated. Just delete all the partitions until all space is unallocated. Click on Next and allow Windows to set up the partitions as required

icons in safe mode (no change)

Before doing as requested above, I selected a Microsoft image as my new background turning off my old slideshow which kept coming back after installs. So it was a new image.
After the install as above and despite selecting a new microsoft background image prior, my slideshow has returned as has done after so many installs trying to solve why I cannot get the power/battery icon onto the task bar also again despite selecting the Tablet power/boot up button to be used for shutdown. It will not, have to go through start and shut down from there.
I have also tried going to the registry as many suggest as a cure, to delete 2 values. Only one value (the first as suggested) is seen to be deleted, the second is not seen.
Added to above, going into Safe Mode makes no difference..........

    thanks

You need to install the chipset driver from the manufacturer of the tablet.

Please open the webpage for the computer manufacturer.
Enter the computer's serial or product number or the model number.
Identify all of the drivers and bios information for the computer.
With a clean install the computer currently has Windows default drivers for non-microsoft services and hardware.
Update the BIOS and install all applicable drivers from the computer manufacturer's website.
Please post the URL or hyperlink into the thread.

  7. I would also ensure in this case that when he goes to the PC manufacturers website for drivers that he installs all the latest chipset drivers and BIOS drivers first before updating the other drivers to avoid any conflicts

Cannot format Hard drive to completely install clean Windows

    OK Guys,
The day has a glowing Sun.
Found no help with the Viglen Website, but found that Tesco's had support for the 'Connect 10' along with a list of drivers.
But not listed as their purpose etc. Had to spend time updating all the drivers in Device Manager trying each file which was downloaded on a stick.

But success, all is solved. Everything seems OK.

But despite searching American Megatrends to identify the BIOS/Motherboard, resulted in failure.
Tried to identify the manufacturer using my Serial Number alongside their lists, nothing near. "EMI20P4L9B6T1C66H0B1G0G2L0C00D0M0N0G0C1P1C1W1" This was taken from the "SystemInfo" program as all other details is "To be filled in by OEM" and the BIOS is currently Ver: 5.6.5.

    DxDiag.txt
    Motherboard info.txt

Can anyone ID the BIOS/Motherboard from the details I've given and where I might get an update etc.

But I am very much obliged of all the help you guys have given me.
    Thanks again

Why do you need to update the Bios ?

If you need a Bios update, it`ll be right there where you were looking at the manufacturers website.

Is tells you right here the version and date of your Bios, if there is a newer version it will be listed.

    Version: 5.6.5
    Release Date: 04/08/2015

I wouldn't bother unless there is some specific update you need.

    OK,

'zbook' mentioned to go the Manufacturers Website to update then BIOS etc.. But when the Serial Number I have above is entered, it is not accepted or recognised.
If I go the American Megatrends site and try match my serial number against their lists to try and identify my BIOS/Motherboard manufacturer, there is nothing anywhere near to my number.

So I have not a clue who made the board if I need any further updates etc. in the future.

    Thanks

What is the exact make and model of the PC, I will look it up.

Give me a manufacturers link if possible.

If the Bios does everything you want it to, then don`t worry about a update right now, let`s research it 1st *Smile

Cannot format Hard drive to completely install clean Windows

OK sorry not been back sooner,

Sent an email to original Manufacturer 'Viglin UK' requesting details of the Tablet Hardware for updating. Just as I thought, no response.

The Tablet is marketed as 'Connect 10.1' main Retailer in the UK was 'Tesco'.
Here is the UK office for Viglin. Viglen Limited - Support
Here is the UK retailer who sold the Tablet. Tesco Tech Support | Find Answers.

Tesco website was where I got all the drivers to get to the current stage.

The Serial number of the Tablet and packaging: VIGLIN821120150915743
The motherboard Serial number taken by the 'system info': EMI20P4L9B6T1C66H0B1G0G2L0C00D0M0N0G0C1P1C1W1

Although the Tablet is operating fine now thanks to all you guys help.
But if I needed any update for the BIOS and Chipsets etc., it would be good to know where to get them with the correct Identity numbers.

    thanks again all
