Brink I have come across a couple of things that will cause me to undo that registry hack (unless you have a fix)

After merging the reg file and after reboot I am faced with desktop icons overlapping and duplicating also. Hard to see but there is also a shadow of taskbar functions

If you mean from the "Personalize (classic)" context menu, then it's not possible for it to cause those issues since it doesn't affect any of their registry entries.

It only gets added to the desktop context menu which is completely unrelated to the issues you described.

It looks like you have some sort of blurring affect going on there. Does refreshing (F5) the desktop clear it up?

You might also right click on your desktop, and click/tap on View and Align to grid to make sure it's checked to prevent your desktop icons from overlapping each other.

    Some other items to check:

    • Latest graphics driver installed.
    • DPI scaling set to default 100%.
    • Using recommended screen resolution.

Thanks Brink. I should of posted this issue in the correct reg hack thread.

i rebuilt the icon cache and realized I bought a program called "IconRestorer" because 10 always resets my icons on my first monitor where as I like them on all 5 monitors.

After rebuilding cache and restoring the desktops with icon restorer, all is fixed. So my bad

    Dear Brink,

I have a question related to the screensaver settings on Windows 10. I have a pdf presentation file (to be displayed in full-screen on a touchscreen) that needs to go to a corresponding screensaver after an inactivity of 1 min. However, the current set-up disables the screensaver from running when a pdf is in full-screen. Is there a solution to this problem?

    Kind regards,
    Luuk

Hello Luuk, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

What are you using to open PDF files with?

It may have a setting to temporarily disable screen saver while full screen.

Does it do this when you have the PDF maximized instead of full screen?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file. However, I've already tried all the settings, and this provides no solution. Same problem counts for a plain Powerpoint presentation btw, which also disables the screensaver in full-screen mode. The weird thing is that on a Macbook the screensaver does work in full-screen mode (for both PDF and PPT), without any different settings.

When the PDF is maximized it works, but unfortunately I need the full-screen mode.

    @lverhoor,

I've done some more research on this, and you might check the items below to see if you may have a group policy set to be disabled for screen saver on full screen. It's for Windows Media Player, but there are reports of it affecting full screen for other programs as well. It'll be worth a check.

If you have Windows 10 Pro, then check Group Policy (gpedit.msc) below to make sure the "Allow Screen Saver" policy is set to "Not Configured".

    *Arrow User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Media Player\Playback

Here's the registry (regedit.exe) entry for it below as well. You would want to delete the EnableScreenSaver DWORD if there. You may need to restart the computer afterwards to apply.

    Code: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaPlayer] "EnableScreenSaver"=dword:00000000[/quote]

  11. I've seen lots of different post about how to enable the screen saver in Win 10 and then go to power options and set the time. But where in the reg. can you set the time? In Win 7 it's HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveTimeOut but that doesn't seem to work for Win 10. Anyone know how?
