Windows 10: Changing Icons On Desktop

Hello, all.

Is there a way to change to icons on the desktop from stock image to something custom, like a picture? If not a picture, then just a different icon? I am mainly thinking of the folders with their generic folder icons.

Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to Run SFC scan.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a
Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to un full system virus scan and check.

Step 3: I recommend you to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Difficulty changing icons on desktop

Earlker on today, I tried to change a desktop icon to a png picture. I followed the instruction to changing an icon but as soon as I clicked browse and located myself to the folder the png picture was in, the png were not shown, hence, said No results found
(something like that) I am ascertain that I downloaded the png and tried redownloading and even located in another folder but was remained the same. I double checked to see if the png were saved and it was there. It is only when I click browse and try to find
it it isnt there. Additonally I also did not locate some png in the folders but still did not show up. Is there a way to solve this problem??? Thank you.

 

They can be changed, I use Windows 10 Manager to do it there also is :

Is Windows 10 Manager an app or a feature of Win 10? (btw, you replied to my post in literally 15 seconds...wow!)

Thanks, Josey. I was looking for a way to change the icon image. Tweaker appears to be limited to spacing and font. Can this be done?

Folders on the desktop (or anywhere else) can be given a different icon using just Windows 10. Right-click on the folder and select Properties. There's a 'Change icon' button on the Customize tab. Or, if it's a shortcut the 'Change icon' button is on the Shortcut tab for its Properties. There are tutorials...
